Managing Conflict Between Staff

Resolving Conflict in your Team

Managing hostile working relationships between individuals is one of the most stressful things leaders  have to deal with. This type of conflict often creates negative working environments with the effects  rippling out across teams; they affect morale, motivation and are a considerable source of strain for  managers.

In many cases these conflicts can be intensified by managers attempting to hold meetings  between both parties without first having a sound understanding of the process to follow and the basic  methods that can be employed to deescalate tensions. If managers do have the skills however, these  conflicts can be managed, calmly, efficiently and at an early stage.

Delegates will learn the basic principles of what a facilitated conversation is, when it is appropriate to  use one, how to explore the key issues that individuals are having with each other, how to prepare and  plan for a joint conversation and the basic structure and skills that are needed to facilitate one. There  will also be a focus on how to reach an agreement and how to document facilitated meetings to allow  them to be referred back to at a later date if necessary.
